Task 5

1. This picture includes many parts, accordingly to the “Learning Teams” part and the “Collaborative Deliberation” part, we can know this picture is showing about collaborative learning.

2. My favorite part of this type of learning is “Learning through reflection.” Owing to from this part, I can learn that why the original thought was unworkable and how do I improve the idea. After the process, I can not only improve my abilities but reflect the wrong I made as well. Making mistakes did not matter, because we are not omnipotent. But the most important thing is that after we found and reflected our mistakes, we should reform and don’t make the same mistake again.

3. I think that “Generating Multiple Perspectives” and “Making Informed Decisions” usually bother me when I work with others. Because I think Taiwan’s educational system tends to be “the spoon-feeding way of teaching,” we almost learned from this way . I feel that during my learning process, I always “accept the truth, seldom having making critical comments.” So many times I feel “Generating Multiple Perspectives” is difficult to me. And why the part” Making Informed Decisions” bother me, I think it may be related to my personality. Before I decided something important, I must be think twice. Therefore, I can’t make informed decision at once.
After learn this picture, I will try to improve my weak points. When I have group learning next time, I can use them better.

  1. “Learning teams” and “Collaborative Deliberation” are the core value of collaborate learning. Through collaborative deliberation, group members can reflect themselves and make the possible solutions to the problem. Before making final decision, one team might discuss and argue about what is the most possible solution. Then, one team could get the main picture of the task.

    Generating multiple perspectives is the most important part for collaborative learning. In one learning team, members all have their idea or thinking. Members’ elaboration of their thinking can stimulate the most valuable solution for the problem. However, before elaborating ones’ ideas, the climate should be sunny for them to go out for speaking.

    A captain is the one who would lead the team to fulfill the goal. However, in groups, multiple captains is a serious problem. Members all have their idea and to congregate the final decision is sometimes difficult for one group. Therefore, the pivotal factor for group discussion is the climate of grouping.

    Everyone has his or her own personality which forms the atmosphere for a small organization. The author often found that the harmony never existed in his group. Consequently, he liked to learn by himself and be silent in group.

  2. It is really a serious problem that in the group has multiple captains. Owing to in the group, everyone wants their idea be adopted. Especially, when there have several people who have tendency to control everything in the same group. In this way, it easily gets into an argument, let alone achieving the agreement. Therefore, learning how to contain ideas which different to us is also an important part when we learn in the group.

  3. As a teacher, he or she should aware of the importance of collaborating learning. I think that is opportunity for students to learn to communicate with the one who has different idea or opinion. At this moment, the instructor plays an important role to guide students to communicate with others and endure the noisy students make. Traditionally, students weren’t allowed to make too much noisy in class. However, discussion with teammates is also a meaningful learning. Instructor should guide student to be calm while they have different ideas with others. Through this activity, students would benefit more from grouping and that would help them to corporate with the colleague in society.
