Task 6

Usually my first reaction is that felt depressed when I made mistakes. Of course, after depressed, I will take my mistakes seriously. Finding out the error and correcting it are my second step.

I defined the mistake as the thing which makes people love-hate. Because nobody likes making mistakes, we always go after we can be a perfect person. Hence, if we can, we will avoid making mistakes as far as possible. However, as the proverb says: ” no one is perfect”, we must do wrongdoing during our life. But, making mistakes is not certainly a bad thing, we always learn and move forward from mistakes. Usually, we became more and more mature and sensible after we learned from our mistakes.

After listening to Prof. Pausch’s speech, I also see the mistake in the same way. In addition, I also learned the new light from Prof. Pausch’ speech, such as” experience is what you get when you did not get you wanted” and” brick walls are there for a reason: they us prove how badly we want things.”

  1. Mistakes are the natural event in one’s daily. Doing or saying something wrong is inevitable in our life. Even something is perfectly done; picky person always exists to complain the event. Consequently, one should take easy with his or her mistakes, but reflecting the thing often he or she has done. However, Man is not a saint and he would make a mistake in his life. With time goes by, something wrong in the past might be right at present. Many people have the hypothesis about the thing he or she should “realize earlier”. They always say “if I know it earlier, I would…” or “I didn’t think about it before”. Therefore, one should be happy about the mistake he or she make and have the chance to learn from it.

Mistake is the regret at things that someone has done. After the mistake happened, one might feel said and frustration about the event. Some might reflect on what have been done; others might pass it by and let it be. After reflection on the mistake, most people could behave more properly in the future. However, to behave what others’ anticipation is painful. Mind-opened toward the mistake might have an optimistic life. The bottom line is that the mistake won’t hurt others. To this point, the more optimistic people, the less mistakes one would make.

From Mr. Pausch’s lecture, the influence of the original family on one’s attitude toward mistakes is gigantic. Pausch’s parents had an opened mind about his growing. His parents encouraged him to do what he liked. His parents didn’t anticipated Pausch to be a noble or someone else. Therefore, he was curious about his life and making mistakes that others didn’t been allowed. The writer often reflected on what he had done in the daytime. He found that he was stupid about the mistakes. With the growing of the age, the stupid feeling faded away gradually. He could generous about the mistakes. After Pausch’s speech, his thought would be more optimistic about his life.

  3. “Mind-opened toward the mistake might have an optimistic life.” “The more optimistic people, the less mistakes one would make.” I like these two sentences. They give me some enlightenment.
As far as I am concerned, I think myself is a person who is prone to be pessimistic about unknown things. Take an example, when I face unknown things, tending to look on the dark side about things and also being afraid of making mistakes. Therefore, I often made myself feel occupied or stressful. In this way, when I faced the thing, I would be too nervous to do well. In the end, I would just make more mistakes and fell depressed. However, after seeing these two sentences, I think maybe I should make some change to my thinking model. Being an optimist may make myself feel sunny and reduce making mistakes which are unnecessary.
