Task 9

1. Among six different classroom activities, I like watching and reading activities. Because, when I learn from watching, the images would make a deep impression on me. In this way, when I read or review the parts, the images will spring up at once, helping me much swifter and easier to recall the parts. What is more, when watching some movies, I often can get some new perspectives and enlightenment from the movies. Another classroom activities, reading, is also motivated me. However, the “reading” I mentioning, is meaning reading extracurricular readings rather than text books. The reasons why I chose reading are the same as watching. Not only can get new viewpoints and inspiration, but also broaden my horizons. And, I like the least is discussion. Because sometimes members in the same group are disliking or not good at express their thought. In doing so, the discussion often come to nothing.
2. Recently, many classes showed films, maybe they were not very fun, but to me, I enjoy watching films very much. Take an example, last week the sign language course showed a film about deaf people. After seeing the movie, I realized the plight of deaf people such as being unable to find a job even if having talent and being looked down on. I think we should appreciate we have sound bodies; in the meanwhile, we also need to put ourselves in deaf people’s shoes. Instead of looking down the deaf.
3. When I encounter some kind of difficult knowledge, I will try to find out answers by myself. But, if I cannot find out or find some uncertain answers, I will discuss with my classmates.
4.I think I am prone to be static and conservative type. Just like I mentioned above.

  1. These classroom activities all have advantages and disadvantages. Reading might bore students. However, in my school, the library has cozy sofa which makes students like to read. The bottom line is if only they could read the books that are abundant with words. After reading a book, Students should summary the books they read to me and they could get a star. For discussion, students might flow some idea about critic issue. Recently, the climate is dry and the water level of the reservoirs in south Taiwan is low. How do you solve this problem? Students were interested in this issue and grouped up. The teacher endured the noisy students make. However, the surprise is students’ creativity. Excavating the mud in the reservoirs, planting trees on the shore and pump out the mud from the reservoirs are the answers from students. Through discussion, pupils could learn how to solve those serious problems.

From personal preference, the hands-on activity is in the first place. For the dry season issue, instructor might prepare several pots and group students. Ask every team to fill the pot with mod and water. Then, present the question: How do you get the mud out of the pot? Please treat the pot as a reservoir. Students would have fun with mud and water. However, the first rule is that they could use their hands or other presented tools to dig the mud. This kind of activities would impress students and cultivate their critical thinking. Reflection might be a tough activity for instructor and students. When it comes to reflection, the first reaction is that someone do something wrong. Then, the trouble maker should reflect him or herself. The impression makes people dislike this activity.

First judgment about difficult knowledge is very important. Safari on the internet might solve problems. In the era of Web 2.0, learners could find answers to questions. However, sometimes user should have the wisdom to judge the trueness of the website. I would ask my trustful friends to make a double check.

To categorize myself into certain learning type is not an easy job. However, as an English learner, I would be a listener. Three to five hours a day for listening to the daily program was a normal job. Moreover, I would record the program in my computer and listen to the same article several times until I understand that article.
